Diego Maradona was born in Buenos Aires  ,Argentina and rose to become a footballer of the nation leading it to glory..He died at the age of sixty due to cardiac arrest.he became  popular across the globe after Argentina's world cup victory in Mexico 1986. His versatility made him a  cult figure and a marquee star for a longtime till Lionel Messi took reins of the Team.Maradona's dribbling skill was unmatchable during 80s and he was compared to the legend of all time Pele.

He couldn't repeat the success of  1986 in the subsequent worldcup final where they lost to  Germany. Argentina has a special place in the hearts of Football crazy India especially kerala and Diego is a poster boy of his fans here.I pay respects to him .

Shaheed Bhagat Singh a revolutionary who instigated freedom struggle against British colonial empire adopting extreme ways to revolt by propagating  Slogan  "Inquilab Zindabad" coined by Communist party leader Moulana Hasrat Mohani which later became a swear word of all activists to fight against Injustice Bhagats extremist ways didn't suit the moderate ways of other freedom fighters led by Mahatma Gandhi and didn't gain much support from other fighters of their time .He along with Rajguru and Sukhdev were in different league and  was sentenced to death by British for Anti National activities. He believed in self reliance and  was averse to  external dependence. I remember him on his 113 th birth Anniversary today and this article is a homage to him .

He was born in Lyalpur ,Punjab in 1907 and died in 1931 at the age of 23.

APJ Abdul Kalam we fondly call as Missile Man of India  was  conferred Bharat Ratna India's Highest Civilian Award  for his contribution to the nation in the capacity as President of India and  Chief Architect in Indigineous Missile Development Programme of India like Agni ,Trishul and Prithvi which catapulted India to a Major force to reckon with among other Super Powers .In the wake of  74th Independence  Day  I thought of him for another reason that is his love for children and humble lifestyle.His book "Wings  of  Fire" will Inspire every youngster to have a goal towards the nation by exceling in their career..He hails  from a small town of Tamil Nadu -Rameswaram which is a famous pilgrim centre. He was also a vegeterian.

Guruvayurappan

Guruvayur Temple in Trissur district is around 110 km from our Home Town Calicut .its one of the popular pilgrim sites in Kerala and the deity worshipped here is Lord Krishna. 

we visit guruvayur every year with family and like any other pilgrim center, it reverberates religious fervor and devotional ambience. Another reason I like about guruvayur is its                                           chain of shops selling Idols and Artefacts and usually buy something from there every time I visit.

its a Temple Town and in spite of modernity all around  it retains its religiosity. Guruvayur is also a major pilgrim center of Kerala, especially in Malabar.
